Deforestation and climate change. As you may already know, climate change and the rising temperatures across the world is the biggest threat to humankind and life as we know it. One of the major factors contributing to this is the incredible amount of carbon emissions we produce on a daily basis. But aside from these emissions, one of the other leading contributors to climate change is deforestation.

Forests are essential to life for several reasons we often overlook. Forests are home to millions of species, they protect soil from erosion, produce vast amounts of oxygen, store carbon dioxide, and even help to control our climate. Aside from actively balancing the eco system, they provide us with food, shelter and medicinal plants as well as many other amazing things.

In a time when carbon emissions are at an all-time high, a tree’s function to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen is more crucial than ever, yet deforestation continues aggressively.  At this rate, there won’t be a single rainforest left in less than 100 years! Most people have no clue that 20% of the whole world’s oxygen is produced by the Amazon rainforest alone.

Trees.orgIn our efforts to fight climate change, we recently partnered with an organization that is taking big steps to battle the harmful effects of deforestation and providing families with an alternative to unsustainable farming techniques. This organization is called and we are proud to say that with their help, we just planted 10,000 trees!

We already reward our customers who use our services by awarding them with up to 2,500 free Air Miles, but in order to accelerate our efforts against climate change, for every customer purchase we’ll be planting 10 trees with!
